Woohooot Wednesday

Standard

It’s that time of week already – again! – and I realised I got so sick of waiting for dial-up that I haven’t posted for the best part of that week. And what better way to get back into the swing of things (seeing as the new bill-month at Telecom FINALLY came around!) than to join in a quick Wooo Hooot round up of things. As always, thanks for Janine for kick-starting us with the positive stuff.

  • I have broadband again… YAY!!! Hubby: you need to check with me before downloading bandwith hungry items…. OK?!!
  • Getting the chance to go over to Janine’s and meet some crafty pals at her Stampin Up party. Getting to meet the lovely Sarah in person having admired the cards she makes for a wee while now. You can see the card we made as the make and take here. I loved learning the “thumping” technique and how to make a bow using scraps of ribbon…. so cool!
  • Getting another assignement in to the Open Poly. And speaking to my tutor today. She was very lovely – calling me in response to a message I had sent her. She wanted to let me know that I was still on track to complete the course and that a couple of setbacks I’ve had would not stop me from completing. The total reassurance and support she has given me have put in an extra layer of confidence that I am going to get through the material in time. Wooohooo!
  • Taking just a bit of time to put together a quick page for Mr 4′s kid’s album…. the one started way back in March a la Nic Howard.
  • Having broadband back so that I can load a couple of extra layouts done a couple of weeks ago now at the crop organised by Joh.

This layout I’m using to cover my bases at the SketchBook NZ BOM prompts – one of them this month was to do a page regarding your favourite food. Well, this great place in Wellington (which is apparently just 8 weeks into its life) has got the best in the current cupcake trend. So, it’s my favourite treat place right now. Yum!!

And this layout was the one that I was meant to do for the Number 50 challenge at NZ Dares… but wasn’t able to do it in the time frame. Beverley kindly helped notch it up a level by giving me the fantastic background paper – thanks Beverley! And Janine let me play with her glimmermist which I used on my title… awesome stuff ( think I need some of my own….) There’s more journalling on that tag that you can pull out from the back.

  • Sunday was truly gorgeous – it was sunny for a start. We took the Mr’s down to a local big park and discovered they have installed a bike park. It’s a road-marked “road way” complete with give ways, roundabouts, train crossing and speed bumps. I think every kid with wheels was down there enjoying it! The Mr’s certainly did – so I am pleased that we are finally getting a tow-bar put on the car next month and will be getting a bike rack. Yep, the bikes are now too big to all go in the back of the car.
  • And finally, I got to have coffee this morning with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while. What could be better than spending time with a good friend?

Dare # 48

Standard

I thought I had shared this page a while back, but I see I hadn’t. For the first time is absolutely ages, I got a NZ Dare page done inside the time limits. # 48 was to use stamping, at least a couple of times. I had already thought about what I was going to do in terms of getting another kid’s album page done, and this side was going to be really simple. In order to be part of the dare, I also added some stamping to the background cardstock.

There will be an adjoining page completed too…. once I take the photos! It’s the photo taking that is holding me back on getting through these pages. But no matter how slowly these albums are coming together, the Mr’s are loving them already. This page is for Mr 7′s album…. a similar one was done for Mr 4. They crack me up, because they have taken to looking through them when they come in from school or kindy…. just in case I’ve added a new page. Mr 4 has also started to take it in the car with him whenever he can. I get the feeling I need to get a move on and just finish them already!

What’s on the Box?

Standard

Rats! I missed the deadline for this dare!! I went to upload it and the winner had already been drawn. Never mind – I get to record the fact I’m a total TV addict …. the eagle eyed among you will note the journalling mentions that these were SOME of my favourite shows this year.

So tonight, having survived my first week of the hols with the Mr’s, I am packing up for tomorrow. It’s ScrapPink day – I think an international scrapping day dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer. Hey, I might as well have fun while I contribute! For anyone else partaking in their local event – have lots of fun.

So week 1 of the hols is down. I am knackered! Being a bit under the weather last weekend kind of set me back throughout the week (as it does!) meaning it seemed like we were all trying to play catch-up with little success. Oh well – the weather was great today. Meaning the kids actually got fresh air in their lungs!

And Mr 3′s pants got the chance to dry. Yes Pants …. we are attempting the whole toiletting thing. Again. We’ve had several attempts to no avail and I’ve been quick to wrap each one up as a practice run. With these holidays and not a lot of plans, I thought it was time for another go.

Cute little guy that he is – he’s going to drive his mother bonkers! Day 2 – 7 pairs of wet undies and pants. 0 actual hits so to speak. But this time I’m perservering. So I have like a million little undies and that many pairs of pants again packed. Send good potty vibes our way – I think we’re going to need all the vibes we can get!

Everyday

It’s a dare from NZ Dares a few weeks back. I was wanting to take part in the dare but was behaving myself for once and putting the study ahead of the playing with glue and paper!

Better late than never!

Initially when I had it finished last night, it was looking a bit stark. And the journalling wasn’t really doing it for me either! So I re-did that bit, coloured up some chipboard and added some flowers. Still simple but a whole lot better.

Happy Father’s day too.

What have your *Dad’s* been up to today? The dad in our house decided to take the Mr’s out for an Expedition on the bikes. Yay!!! I like those kind of bonus free times!
I made good use of it by nipping out to the gym (hitting my planned target of three times in a week – yay me!), then being home in time to whip up a mummy-cafe meal…. my take on the bacon and banana pancakes! Although there were “eeuws”-a-plenty (the Mr’s can be counted on for such things…….) the lunch was for the most part demolished. Can’t have been that bad then!

And now while all 3 testosterone bodies are napping… I’m going to nip down the street for a quick coffee with the neighbour while the sun still shines. And plan dinner tonight! A pretty good FD all around this year.

{ETA: Journalling reads: “It’s an everyday thing. The decision of WHAT’S FOR DINNER? You know when I’m full of energy because I like to try new things. Often there is a new favourite that will appear regularly for a while. But more often than not, it is something from a range of quick and simples. Largely due to the nightly chorus of “eew yuk” and “I’m not eating that”. I mean – who would bother trying to please THAT crowd?! So on tonight’s menu? Food! Eat up! }

Happy Long Weekend!

Standard

And how is your Queen’s Birthday weekend going? Swimmingly we hope!

We didn’t have too many plans to while away our time. A good thing as it means Hubby gets on with some much needed TLC around the house, I get on with some study, the boys get to hang out with some buddies in the street – and I fit in some scrapping. OK, so my scrapping:study ratio is still a little wonky on the wrong side…. but hey – I had fun!! And tomorrow is another day….

So a little something I’m quite excited about: after looking and looking and meaning and meaning to get a NZ Dares challenge done – I have! The scan has knocked off some of the outside edges – so use your imagination and add a little more red cardstock and you’ll get the overall effect a little more!

The challenge this fortnight is to do a layout with multiple photos. And if doing a double layout, you couldn’t just spread a couple over the 2 pages. Noooooo…. there had to be at least 6 on each page.

Well, ‘cos I take so many pics and then wonder what on earth I’m going to do with them, this challenge looked like the one for me. Thanks to Trina who provided me with the inspiration on the type of page I could do. The red cardstock wasn’t meant to be a straight CASE…. it just so happens it was the only colour cardstock that I had two of!

Ok – so if I can have a go, and if you haven’t already, you should! Just imagine how many of those unscrapped pics you can get through!! I have plans to do a few more of these multiple pages!!
