Rainy Saturday
Ok, so it’s been a while. Again! Half the problem lately is I think of a really awesome thing I want to post about then real life gets in the way, and before you know it, a week has gone by. Plus often there might be a photo that I plan on putting on as well, and guess what? It’s still on the camera! Yep, that would be the main way life is at the moment. Stuff and things just happening. Getting recorded in part and then carrying right on.
So some highlights, and a few lowlights of days just past.

Last Friday night I graduated! Woooohoooooo!! It was a small ceremony at the Turnball Library in town with maybe a dozen or so other graduates as well. A short and sweet set of speeches then we were called upon to receive our certificates. Hubby and I decided to take the Mr’s along – the function was scheduled to conclude around 7.15 so not too late a night for them. They were the only children there – I thinking I might have been the only SAHM that was graduating. At least there on the night. They were very well behaved – several people remarked on it at the end so it must be true!! LOL Hubby and I thought it was important to see the “End result” of my study seeing as they lived through some of the …ahhhh….*moments*. Particularly around exam time
Mr 7 wanted to take some photos so I brought along the second camera. It was quite interesting as I was seated among the other graduates and away from the family. Mr 7 was snapping away and actually got some quite good shots. Of me listening to the speeches, of the VIPs…. of him, his nose, his shoes….. But I thought it was really interesting how he captured his perspective of the event. Very cool.
Both his and the hubby’s photos are still on the camera.

This week was a roller-coaster. On Monday I was called to see if I would be interested in a local part-time position that had come up. It was a temp role – to cover for sick leave. Yes Please! was my reaction. An interview on Tuesday, a phone call on Thursday morning and a quick meeting with the organisation that same day. I was convinced I had the job. Began making potential plans for the school holidays etc etc. You know the story – counting chickens even though they are small. Got the call on Friday morning. The organisation really liked me…. BUT. But…. so yes, there was the lowlight of the week. It would have been awesome to just to get my foot in the door, but for now it’s not to be. Apparently I’m a good fit and if it had been a permanent job it would have been a different story. I guess I’m hoping for a permanent job to come up then!!
I’d forgotten how the roller-coaster ride of job-hunting goes. Still, I’m lucky enough to be able to wait and keep going until the *Perfect* job comes up. One door opening and closing and all that jazz.

Rugby was on and off this morning. On for Mr 5 who has nursary grade indoors in the “Pit”, off for Mr 7 who was across the road just 15 minutes after Mr 5’s start time. We decided to all head out and go to Mr 5’s game and by then we would know if the other junior games were cancelled or not. There is also a Mitre 10 Mega right across the road from the club rooms – a great way to get a caffiene hit and a wake-up call after Nursary grade is done and dusted. Oh, yes, I have ulterior motives!!! We were a bit confused as the playground had been moved. Although the move was a good one as it meant mum and dad could sit with a cup of coffee and a bagel while the Mr’s lept around the playground.
And then we got poured upon returning to the car! Oh the joys of the great Wellington Southerly!!!!!

My dad is arriving for a few days. He arrives (presumably!) at 4.45 this afternoon. We are doing the usual thing – waiting til the last moment before getting his room organised. This should be interesting as we no longer have a spare bed as such. More like a bed in the boys “playroom”. Wonder if we will find him playing Playstation in the middle of the night??!

Cross Country Fever
About 10 days or thereabouts ago, the Mr’s school ran their cross-country races. As I made mention, Mr 7 was just thrilled as he came in 5th in his race. All his training with pal L during the lunch times paid off. Certainly the “Cotton Wristband” { = sweatband!} lent to him was apparently a key ingredient to his success. And as I made mention, although I had all the saintly motherly intentions of seeing him place so well, the actual announcement that the racing was going to happen on the Wednesday conflicted with other chores that needed to get done. I guess there goes my only hope of Sainthood!
In my absence, D took some great pictures for me – I have her to thank for not only the snaps of Mr 7 on the day, but also for the camera envy now I have. I’m saving now!! LOL Anyway, so I didn’t clog her stick up with images of my Mr’s I whipped it down to Harvey Norman’s for a quick print job. {As an aside, it was while we were waiting for the print job that the Mr’s and I discovered Wii. We want it!!}
This morning I raced round like a mad thing getting some housework done and out of the way. I wanted to create something. Anything. I’m motivated to get on and create, but not so motivated to leave the warm environs of the lounge and the heater in the evenings. So, I’m making it a mission to spend some time during the school week to get some of these projects sorted. Yesterday it was attacking the hall cupboard and reorganising that. Today, it was creating a few pages and cards! I really do know which I prefer to do, but there was I have to say, a sense of satisfaction at seeing the newly created floor space in that cupboard. But creating pages is just that little bit more fun!

One of the things I’m loving about this page, is not only that I can kid myself about being current because these are recent photos – but they are scrapped with entirely old – really old! – stash. I’m stash busting too. Man, I am just too clever!!

So it’s about time!!
Time I posted something on here again I say! Can anyone believe it is June already?? This really has got to be the fastest every year to date!!
So, I’ve been busy in real life – um, that really does sound like a theme for life right now doesn’t it??! Since making the decision to become an SU demo, I’ve been almost attached to the phone to Keryn asking this, that and the other thing. I’ve promised her family it will get better!! I had a wee moment of panic as the starter kit was delayed in Auckland thanks to a broken Courier Post label machine…… the fact it already has an address label on it didn’t seem to be a good enough reason to just continue the journey ….sheesh!
So workshop preparation was a little anxious for a while – I did however work out what I was going to be able to demonstrate instead and put together the samples while Keryn was coaching me through the various points of doing a presentation. The actual “First Workshop” was on Thursday night, and I would have to say, proved to be happily successful. That is based on the sales, the bookings and the total raucous laughter that ensued throughout. The laughter I think was not at the samples or the demonstration itself, but a reflection on the fun ladies that attended. Awesome time.
So now I have that wee milestone under my belt and am looking forward to that being finalised and onwards and upwards.

It was school photos yesterday. The Mr’s were turned out in their *Good* clothes – a smart shirt and new jeans. Hair was brushed and pushed around so it was Just So. Mr 5’s class was the first one up and it was done right at the start of school time. As I made a last minute decision to get a sibling shot as well, I was still hanging around. Mrs E spotted me and said, come over and watch. So I did. Man. School photos are still done exactly – EXACTLY – as they were when I was a kid. Lined up in height order, pushed quickly into place by the photographer. The benches even looked the same. Apparently the firm doing the school photos round here are the same ones that have been doing the school pic since the ’50s. Scary – but kinda cool!! It’s the son doing the task now. Oh, and Mr 5 is in almost the same spot I used to be put into – one of the middle rows, at the end.

I realised the other day that as the year is speeding by I really haven’t been getting through those crafty projects I have all waiting for attention. I’m hoping that I might be able to rectify that at some point this week. Time will tell. One thing I did get a 20 minute spot to do though was make a card for a friend. Specifically it was because she is one of my first hostesses. But really, it’s because of all the little things she does – mostly listening to my at times incessent chatter! – and well, because it was fun to do something right now:

And it was fun to use the latest Mojo Monday card sketch from Julee. I so love her sketches and with all the cards I need to make over the next month (so many birthdays, babies, stuff coming up!!), I think I’ll be using several of these sketches.
Oh, and because I wanted to be a bit clever, I even decorated the inside of the card:

OH! The new neighbour baby: it’s a boy, Arthur is his name. And he’s sooooo cute! A was in hospital just the one night – I’m always amazed at this, especially for first time mums. Only because I am such a wuss and quite enjoy the *holiday* hospital stays entail!!
