What’s on the Box?
Rats! I missed the deadline for this dare!! I went to upload it and the winner had already been drawn. Never mind – I get to record the fact I’m a total TV addict …. the eagle eyed among you will note the journalling mentions that these were SOME of my favourite shows this year.
So tonight, having survived my first week of the hols with the Mr’s, I am packing up for tomorrow. It’s ScrapPink day – I think an international scrapping day dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer. Hey, I might as well have fun while I contribute!
For anyone else partaking in their local event – have lots of fun.
So week 1 of the hols is down. I am knackered! Being a bit under the weather last weekend kind of set me back throughout the week (as it does!) meaning it seemed like we were all trying to play catch-up with little success. Oh well – the weather was great today. Meaning the kids actually got fresh air in their lungs!
And Mr 3’s pants got the chance to dry. Yes Pants …. we are attempting the whole toiletting thing. Again. We’ve had several attempts to no avail and I’ve been quick to wrap each one up as a practice run. With these holidays and not a lot of plans, I thought it was time for another go.
Cute little guy that he is – he’s going to drive his mother bonkers! Day 2 – 7 pairs of wet undies and pants. 0 actual hits so to speak. But this time I’m perservering. So I have like a million little undies and that many pairs of pants again packed. Send good potty vibes our way – I think we’re going to need all the vibes we can get!

September 25 Sketch
My the weeks are just flying by – I know it seems like that all the time – but don’t you think they are just getting faster and faster??
So this is this week’s card for Di Hickman’s sketch. I really loved this one – I think there is a lot you can do with it. As much as I loved it I left it to the last minute (again!) and was wondering where to start. Luckily for me I had just gathered up the scraps from when I worked on my CJ the other day and Bam! It’s off. …Haha! Had you all there!! {for those that don’t get the TV reference, that was a direct link to probably the MOST annoying ad on tv… that’s probably why you aren’t watching TV}
OK – so I’m losing the plot today. Truly! So – yes, scraps. On today’s little example, I’ve used the Cosmo Cricket patterned paper (I think it was the Gretel range) and Bazzill. Really nothing fancy at all. And then at long last I used my lovely little hostess stamps I got from Stampin’ Up.
That outer circle it’s hand cut. That’s because I have a 1″ punch and as of today a fantastic 1.5″ punch. But guess what I need: you got it… a 1.25″ punch. Heaven help me!! And I’m sorry, as much as I love SU stuff I just think $30 + is a tad bigger than my budget will let me go. So let me know if you know of a cheaper 1.25 ” punch – otherwise it’s a *cutting-I-will-go* {think Count Homogenised…..}
Ok – there’s a van outside to collect me. They’ve even brought a lovely white coat to keep me warm – the arms buckle up at the back…….

K-E-L-L-Y
So I got tagged aaaaaaages ago by Christi to do this little game.
Here’s how it works:
1. Players must list one fact, word, or tidbit that is somehow relevant to their life for each letter of their first or middle name.
2. When you are tagged you need to write your own post containing your first or middle name game facts, word, or tidbit.
3. Don’t forget to leave a comment telling them that they have been tagged, and to read your blog.
4. If I’ve tagged YOU (see below), please join in on the fun!
K: Krappy at time management. OK - so I *molded* that word to make it fit – but I really really REALLY couldn’t think of any descriptions of me that started with K. In fact, the only one I could think of is not me at all. Uh-uh!
E: Elegance – is something that I wish I had – it’s a style that I aspire to in most things I do although mostly it is a subconsious thing. I’ve only just started realising that it is THAT word that is coming to mind when I see something and just go….”ahh”
L: Love Summer. Wish I could have those days like we had last week forever. Warm, very little wind and blue skies that go on and on.
L: Laughter – need more of it – doesn’t everyone?
Y: Yippee! I really don’t know what else to say – I just love that word and so it goes in
And so I tag:
And anyone else that drops by and has yet to be tagged – consider yourself “tagged”! You don’t have to be a scrapping buddy to join in either: go for it

A new journey starts
With the last Scrapbook Essentials circle journal finishing several weeks ago, a few of us realised we would be a little lost without that 2 weekly deadline coming up. So a new CJ was agreed to – and the first post off was yesterday. This time 11 talented ladies (well, ok 10 plus me…
) have signed up. I think as this goes over christmas, we’re due to get our own ones back some time in February.
There is a myriad of different themes this time. I chose “Passions / Obsessions” based on the fact that I seem to have become more than a little obsessed with finding time to do some sort of scrapping or cardmaking.
So here is a hint of my pages. You would have seen both of them, except I seem to be technically challenged. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put two photos at once on a photoshop canvas so that I can show them to you. It would help if I had more than 2 minutes to try and understand the instructions before I intend to take the action. It is so very frustrating as I know that PSE can do so much that I want it too – but I haven’t the time just at the moment to sit and figure it all out. That will have to wait until after my exams. In the meantime, I see the Free Trial days ticking by and I’m yet to have really made any use of it at all. C’est la vie!!
Actually, I’ve just realised that photo I took for the pages is more apt than I realised – totally obesessed by the computer and scrapping – it’s more me than I thought!!
In other random news:
- I’m up and about round the house today after 2 and a bit days of feeling really yuck, So much so I had to ask Hubby to come come and tend to the Mr’s just before lunch yesterday while I cowered in my bed. What a start to the hols!
- I got stuck into massive organisation mode this morning. Perhaps to make up for the fact the house resembles a tip after three days of boys left to roam freely. I’m not sure anyone else would actually notice my work but filling a wheelie bin with old, hoarded stuff makes me feel very virtuous!
- A tent and a tunnel in the lounge makes for great indoor play
- There is only a little less than 4 weeks left for me to revise before my exams. I need at least 4 months. Oh dear!
Well that’s all from me today – not so newsy afterall! Hope your holidays are going well.

Ar-har me hearties!!
Yes: I too find it amazing who thinks up these things, but I have it on good authority (the 11 year old neighbour) that today is *International Speak Like A Pirate Day*. Because we all need to take the time to speak like this. .…..Riiiiight…
Moving right along swiftly…. I managed to get the latest sketch for Di done. I do not know how but I have missed the last couple of weeks. The weeks have slipped by too fast and before I knew it, I’d missed the deadlines.
So it’s kind of nice I got this one done. I have to admit, I’m not so sure of the pink glaze pen… it didn’t work so nice with the alpha template. Oh well. And that ribbon needed a bit more of a trim once I saw it online! Funny how you only notice these things when they are staring you back in the face!
I am really excited as I have been trying to sort out some stuff for this weekend. I’m going along to the all day crop being held at Kiwiscraps on Saturday with a bunch of friends. It’s meaning that I need to think ahead and work out what pages / projects I want to do. I mean 10 hours of scrapping: I can’t exactly come home with just a couple of quick pages now can I??!
I think I might actually be able to make a dent in my christmas cards for this year. (Actually, you can read that as *starting* them!!)
Oh: and in other earth shattering news. Well not really, but it was a big deal for Mr 6! We had the tooth fairy come visit on Friday night. Yes, Mr 6’s first wobbly tooth finally came out – well, with a little help. {I was sick of being freaked out by its movement when wiggled!} I would post a pic but really the ones I have just aren’t nice. I’m going to keep trying for that *flattering* missing first tooth photo. Might need to remember to wash the face first!

No pictures today
Because I’ve been too busy looking at everyone else’s creations to actually do any of my own over the weekend!
Hubby’s work put on a family function yesterday – took over the Embassy theatre and screened Surf’s Up. Very cute movie! Don’t think it’s actually out for another few days so somehow this was an advance screening. That sounds cool now doesn’t it?
We all were given leis as we arrived, food aplenty to eat, face painting and a photo with a penguin. Mr 6 had had it with the free food on offer and was trying hard to get me to buy him some popcorn. I remembered a couple of years ago doing something similar and they had packs waiting for us all on the seats so I resisted. I was the meanest mum in the whole world apparently. Get used it it kiddo! And then of course I was the smartest mum cos I knew it would be waiting for him……… yup! That’s me!!
Then when we got home I got on with the usual Sunday afternoon stuff. Mainly involving washing the huge pile of clothes that seems to just build and build. Hoenstly, you’d think I never wash during the week! How the pile gets so large by Sunday is a complete mystery. But I got home to a “beeep. beep. Beeep” from the laundry. Great! Not.
Something from Mr 6 pockets has got stuck in the pump. Again! Our machine is about 12 years old now so is doing pretty well apparently. It gets a visit from the appliance man at least a couple of times a year. Usually cos something has clogged the pump or the buttons at teh top have stopped working. Well, being the weekend and seeing as I still had 2 or 3 loads to go, I didn’t want to just leave a huge wet soaking thing happening. I bucketed out the water, tried to see where the pump was to unblock it myself {having no idea what I’m looking for!} Fiddled with that, flicked this. Have no idea what on earth I was doing. But the machine drained and carried on. Definitely with something in the pump still cos there’s a new noise there! Oh well. Got the washing done though.
Have a feeling I should take hubby up on the “let’s just get a new one” before I run out of luck on this one!

Feels like spring
Doesn’t this look really spring like? And the sun is shining – and even better: it was quite warm in the sun today too! I so love days like this – give me a warm sunny day and I’m a happy bunny!I did these cards last night at a monthly card making thing I go to. Except I haven’t been in aaaaaages so I wasn’t too sure what I was going to do there last night. I threw a few stamps and supplies in, knowing I had to make a card for my MIL who’s birthday is today. The yellow flower card evolved and it worked so I decided that was hers.
The spring flowers are out of my neighbour’s garden. She has masses of those old fashioned fushias – you know the ones: they actually smell! She is always asking me to pick them as they grow better apparently when picked regularly. Seeing as I love them so much, who am I to decline such a request! I also love renunculas (and I’m sure I’ve spelt that wrong!) and there were some in the garden too. So those made a nice little posy for the boys to take to MIL after school.
Hubby gets to give the gift tonight (yes, the one I organised!
) . Wish I could see her face but I wanted to make sure that he didn’t go empty handed.
(oh, FYI, MIL is in a home after a massive stroke so the visits to her are more usually one at a time kind of deals).
{Something really p**sy happened while we were there involving the SIL I’m having issues with. Doing my best not to get into a rant here and now while those pretty flowers are looking back at me but believe me, the keyboard is currently feeling under attack!}
The second card you might recognise if you have seen the Stampin Up ideas book. It’s a lift directly off one of those designs! I had to use this cute little beary fellow and the simple nature of this design meant I got to take home 2 cards for the night. Meaning I must have been productive and not sat around catching up on everyone’s news!

Ugh!
Don’t think I have the dreaded lurgy as such. At least not the same yukky one that a lot of people I know have. But I’ve been headachey and tired nonetheless.
So it was with great delight that I heard that the first birthday party had been postponed (mum and one of the girls were sick so that part wasn’t so nice). It meant I’m not rushing around trying to be everywhere. And that’s a good thing cos I just don’t think I could have coped. C’est la vie.
Friday night scrapping: I had told hubby that because of a headache I didn’t think I’d be out late. Huh! He knows me better. After watching the craft robo being deomonstrated, I noticed the clock tick towards midnight and realised I really really needed to head home. So yes, no real pity needed cos clearly I don’t look after myself!
This was the layout I was working on that night. I’ve had the title in my head for ages: “Do it self” was uttered almost as soon as he could talk and that has evolved into more specific declarations: “I can do my buttons up” “I can put my shoes on” etc etc. While big brother has always been independent in the sense he was happy to go off and explore surroundings, Mr 3 has liked to stay closer. And watch. So now he is probably doing reletively more stuff for himself than big brother. That said, there’s a LOT of stuff Mr 6 is doing for himself that he shouldn’t. Like nicking the treats from the top shelf of the pantry – or the girl guide biscuits out of the freezer… What the??!
{The backstory to these photos: I was upstairs doing something and it was getting close to Kindy time so I had called down that I would be getting lunch soon and then we’d be off to kindy. Clearly, I was not fast enough!}

Twin cards
We have a birthday party to go to on Sunday.
Actually we have LOTS on this weekend: hubby is involved with the regional brass band comps so between the rehersals most of Saturday and the actual comps all day Sunday, me and the Mr’s will have to figure out how to stretch ourselves around the weekend’s various regular and social engagements.
The party on Sunday is for one year old twins. It doesn’t seem right that a whole year has gone by – but apparently mother knows best and is convinced her girls were born a year ago. It should be a fun gig – it’s one of those were all the friends get together and catch up. Over the years “all the friends” has evolved from 8 or so couples to 8 or so families. We now have an uncountable number of children between us aged between newborn to nine. Man! How does that happen??!
So these cards are my offerings for the latest 1 year olds on the block. I had a lot of fun making them this afternoon because a girlfriend has just become a Stampin’ Up demonstrator and her goodies had arrived. I now have access to her goodies as well as mine. Woohooo!!! (Sorry Nikki – you know I had to gloat!) One of us thought that going on todays session that we were rather like the stamping world’s version of Hudson and Hall. I wonder which one of us is the lush on the wine??!
{OMG…. I just realised how that dates us!!!
}
And thanks to another SU girlfriend Keryn, who taught me how to dye my own ribbons the other day. Yes, my fingers get stained – but I discovered that the StampnScrub will clean fingers too.
And tonight I am going out to scrap. Yes, hubby is out and about all weekend and has been busy in the new job, so I’ve gouged some me-time and life is good. I’ve realised over the last few months that I am a social scrapper. I seem to get quite a bit done when I’m at crops. I wonder if it thanks to the vibes that I collect from everyone else.

Eve’s 6th Challenge….
….is about the everyday! Perfect timing seeing as I just did the one for NZDares are well! Ok, so yes, I’m a cheaty-weaty but I have an assignment to complete and revision to begin. Eeek… my exams are little more than 6 weeks away
My everyday is starting to get a bit more organised at the moment. Goodness only knows how that happened, but maybe it has something to do with the Spring in the air. {those in Wellington, just pretend it is not grey and drizlly out there and let me be content in my disillusionment -k?}
Mr 6 has been cracking me up with a little ditty one of his classmates taught him. I’m sure it’s not a recent one but I’d never heard it before.
“Here is a little buggy (show hand with a “bug” drawn on his palm)
why don’t you say hi?
do a little somersault (rolling arms around)
(Clap hands) Whoops! Buggy die!!”
Probably not really PC these days but it just goes to show that boys will be boys!
